Character Ski Chalet 

La Source Ski Chalet, close to Alpe d’Huez, France is owned and managed by Michael Baldwin – ski enthusiast, mountaineer and hotelier. The ski chalet is a converted old stone barn south facing with panoramic views of the surrounding area. It has been renovated to an extremely high standard, keeping the charm and character of the building whilst creating modern facilities. There are 4 twin bedrooms all with private facilities, and a family room (sleeps 4 - twin beds and bunk beds) also with private facilities in the existing chalet. 

A new extension provides a further 2 ensuite bedrooms (1 double bedroom and a bunk room), providing in total accommodation for 16 catered guests at La Source Ski Chalet.

A spiral staircase leads to the spectacular and spacious living/dining area with vaulted ceiling, wood burning stove and comfortable sofas. There is a separate south-facing sun lounge overlooking a large exterior wood decking, giving stunning views over the valley and mountain peaks. The recently installed 5 person outdoor Jacuzzi spa provides relaxing massage treatment and aromatherapy – perfect for unwinding after an energetic day on the ski slopes.

Home comforts include: satellite TV, videos, CD and DVD players, a wide selection of books, magazines, board games and an internet connection plus WIFI.

Great Food 

After a day on the ski slopes, we provide a restoring tea with home-made cake. Following a few hours relaxation we then gather for pre-meal drinks and a four course dinner prepared by our in-house chef in a contemporary style, using local fresh produce supported by a complimentary selection of good French wines. On the days that you choose not to ski or snowboard, the chalet will be a welcome retreat with its warming wood burning stove, relaxing atmosphere and sunny aspect.

Villard Reculas, France offers a full selection of Gites (French self catering ski chalets or apartments) at affordable prices. All are within easy reach of the pistes and many are ‘ski in, ski out’ Available Saturday to Saturday (except Christmas and New Year weeks which will be Sundays)

La Source is particularly attracted to the recently refurbished gites ‘Regain’ (various photos shown above) which now provide an extremely high standard of comfort and facilities, which include increased number of good size bedrooms, and an increased ratio of bath/shower rooms and WC’s. These gites have well equipped kitchens with dishwashers, microwaves, washing machines and tumble dryers. There is a flat screen TV/DVD in the lounge, MP3 docking station etc. Parking is available immediately outside the building.

All the gites are inspected prior to your arrival to ensure attention to detail and perfect cleanliness. We include ‘Ski Chalet La Source’ touches to ensure you have a very personalised holiday, and we are available during the week to provide further help and advice. Bed linen and kitchen cloths are provided, but you are requested to bring towels.

A €250.00 Euros refundable deposit/caution will be requested on arrival against breakages

The better quality accommodation tends to be reserved well in advance - especially during high season

Finally, transfers to Villard Reculas in the ‘La Source’ minibus can be arranged if required (unfortunately not the February school holiday week) or we can make recommendations for onward transfers from the airport to Villard Reculas

In the village there is one hotel, several restaurants and bars, a well stocked supermarket, 2 sports shops with ski and snowboard hire facilities, and a local branch of the ESF ski school.

The village is serviced by a high speed quad chair lift, which connects quickly and easily to the main ski area of Alpe d’Huez.

The slopes in Villard Reculas are west facing and hold the snow exceptionally well. The village has its own ski school and and a variety of slopes for all abilities including nursery slopes.
